BEARing Gifts for the Holidays

TaxMasters recently completed an office gift drive for BEARing Gifts, the Christmas gift-giving project run by BE A Resource for CPS Kids (BEAResource) in Houston, Texas. All told, employees purchased and donated gifts for 75 abused and neglected children, most of whom will receive at least two of the gifts listed on their Christmas gift wish list thanks to the response by TaxMasters employees.

Let’s face it, Child Protective Services (CPS) caseworkers have a pretty tough job. But that job pales in comparison to the daily realities many abused and neglected children face in their own homes. BEARing Gifts is designed to bring a bit of help and hope during the holiday season to children who have little choice about where and how they live. CPS caseworkers send the name of each child they represent to the folks at BEAResource along with the child’s top three Christmas wishes. The children vary in age from a few months up to and including teenagers. BEAResource passes the wish lists along to people in the community who purchase one or all of the gifts on each list. BEAResource picks up the gifts and delivers them to the children, who might otherwise not receive any gifts for the holidays.

“I think back on Christmases I had as a child and I realize how lucky I was, not only to have gifts under the tree, but to have parents that loved me and nurtured me,” said Alex Clamon, VP of Sales at TaxMasters. “While giving a gift won’t change the situation many of these kids are in, at least it extends to them a little bit of joy. One of the gifts I saw dropped off in the office was a brand new bicycle. I know for sure that’s one kid who’s going to have a great surprise come Christmas morning. 75 kids may not sound like many, but this is part of a huge effort put on by BEAResource for CPS Kids every year. We are honored to be able to help them out. The response among the employees has been fantastic this year. We’re really proud of everyone for stepping up.”

About BEARing Gifts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 9, 2009

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – TaxMasters agreed to a one year sponsorship of the Resident Athlete (RA) and Jr. Dream Team (JDT) programs at the Arco Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA in support of USA Archery. The TaxMaster’s sponsorship provides a base contribution of $25,000 with a $5,000 bonus to be paid every time the Tax Masters / Brass Monkey Racing Porsche #97 finishes in the top three during the 2009 SPEED World Challenge GT race series.

“The commitment of TaxMasters to sponsor the RA and JDT programs this year allows us to really make headway in training and developing our athletes for London,” says USAA National Head Coach KiSik Lee. “We will be able to get our athletes the tournament experience they desperately need to be competitive. We are humbled and grateful for TaxMasters’ support.”

“We are incredibly excited to be in a position to help these athletes continue to excel under Coach Lee’s direction,” said Patrick Cox, TaxMasters’ founder and President. “We look forward to watching USA Archery over the next few years and to seeing Coach Lee develop these hopefuls into strong Olympic competitors. This was a great way for us to get involved and to provide some money for USA Archery to use in their drive for the gold in 2012. No pressure, Tony.”"

“We have a lot of work in developing our Olympic athletes,” states USAA CEO Denise Parker, “much of which cannot be done without key contributors. TaxMasters’ commitment will put our Olympic training and athlete development on a fast track and that is exactly what we need. We would like to thank Patrick Cox, Alex Clamon, and all of TaxMasters for their incredible support and we will be watching and rooting for Tony Rivera in the #97 Porsche to win!”
