Tax Masters Patrick Cox–One of a Kind
Tax Masters founder Patrick Cox was raised in the east Texas town of Nacogdoches and in College Station, where he attended and graduated from A&M Consolidated High School. He entered Texas A&M University and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the Texas A&M School of Business (later named Mays Business School) in 1986.
Early Career
Mr. Cox began his career as a CPA in Houston and quickly advanced through a series of moves that found him in the role of Vice President of Finance with Kemper Insurance Companies. The youngest ever VP at Kemper, Mr. Cox lived and worked in multiple locations throughout the United States. In the spring of 1998, he left Kemper in pursuit of entrepreneurial endeavors.

Patrick Cox Tax Masters Founder and President
There are many who question moves like Mr. Cox made to go out on his own. He was gainfully employed as a VP with a company that was widely respected and commanded the salary and benefits that go along with a vice presidency in a financially strong firm. But entrepreneurs have an itch to be out on the edge, discovering new ways to do things and finding sound solutions to fix serious problems.
Founding Tax Masters
Patrick Cox has owned several successful businesses over the years including Cox & Associates, an accounting firm he has since sold. Mr. Cox founded Tax Masters because he enjoyed the challenge of representing clients with IRS problems and realized there was a particularly large market for IRS representation services. He saw a way to provide relief to taxpayers who were in serious trouble and considerable pain due to aggressive collections activities used by the IRS. Since starting Tax Masters, Patrick Cox has worked at perfecting and tweaking the operation to create a full-service tax representation firm that provides consistent, complete services for each and every customer.
A success in every sense of the word, Mr. Cox continues to serve as President of Tax Masters. He is heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the firm, serves as the spokesperson for the company in television commercials, and maintains a blog about tax representation and avoiding IRS tax problems.
Charity, Volunteering, and Sponsorships
Always generous, Mr. Cox has contributed a great deal of his time and financial support to charities and institutions over the years. Most of his giving is kept confidential and private. Some of his public contributions include:
- Serving as President and Director of the Sommers Alumni Association, which supports the Northern Tier National High Adventure program of the Boy Scouts of America
- Sponsoring Olympic hopefuls through USA Archery
- Endowing scholarships through Texas A&M’s Association of Former Students
- Sponsoring and contributing to Houston area causes close to Mr. Cox’s heart, such as Little League baseball and local calf scrambles
As Mr. Cox has stated, “I love contributing to something that makes people better in some way. When you give kids the chance to learn and grow through outdoor activities, they see a side of life too many people never get to experience.”
Patrick Cox and Tax Masters continue to be a positive influence on youngsters and in the community at large. And there’s one thing for sure. No matter what the endeavor or the contribution, Mr. Cox always finds a way to have a good time while making the recipients of his contributions feel at ease and deserving of his time and attention.
